The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) is the internationally recognized developer of the comprehensive, research-based, Rider Education and Training System (MSF RETS). RETS curricula promotes lifelong-learning for motorcyclists and continuous professional development for certified Rider Coaches and other trainers. MSF also actively participates in government relations, safety research, public awareness campaigns and the provision of technical assistance to state training and licensing programs.
- Beginning Rider Course (BRC:RSS)
The BRC:RSS (Basic Rider Course: Riding and Street Strategy) is ideal for both beginning and experienced riders. Approximately half classroom, half riding. Course progresses from basic controls and riding skills to street strategies, special situations, and accident avoidance maneuvers. Emphasis on personal responsibility and risk management. Students ride motorcycles furnished by Central Missouri State University and Ted's Motorcycle World. Fee: $215.00 - Experienced Rider Course (ERC)
The ERC is reserved for licensed riders with at least one year or 1000 miles of riding experience. Course builds on skills learned in the BRC:RSS. Emphasis on perceptual skills, advanced maneuvers, and traction management. Each student must furnish an insured, street legal motorcycle. Fee: $135.00 - Students Must:
Be 15.5 years or older
Be able to ride a bicycle
Wear protective clothing
Assume financial responsibility for injuries - Protective Equipment Required at Every Course Session:
Full Fingered Gloves
Helmet - DOT Approved, no visible damage
Boots - at least ankle-high, 2" heel max, no dangling laces, leather preferred
Pants - full length, no holes or dangling strings, denim or leather preferred
Long-Sleeved jacket or heavy shirt
Eye protection - sunglasses or eyeglasses accepted, goggles or faceshield preferred
Sunscreen and rainsuit recommended
COURSE WILL GO RAIN OR SHINE! - Course Completion Cards
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a course completion card which may entitle you to receive a 5%-25% discount on motorcycle insurance through select companies and a course t-shirt. Completion of this course eliminates the driving portion of obtaining your motorcycle drivers license.
