Senior Vegetable Garden
At Boone's Lick Park, land has been desginated for use by senior residents, 55 years and older, wanting to grow vegetable gardens. The garden is located just North of Boone's Lick Road on Rosebrae.
Each February, interested participants are encouraged to attend an orgainzational meeting where the project is discussed including rules, requirements and restrictions. Parks Staff assigns each person a 15' x 15' plot for their use from April 1 thru November 1. Each participant is required to sign an agreement to maintain their plot throughout the year and then general clean up at the end of the growing season. Along with the signed agreement, a $50 deposit is required which is returned in Decmeber once the clean-up is complete.
The Parks Staff initially tills the ground and stakes each plot for easy identification. Water is available, however, tools, hoses and equipment necessary to maintain the garden is supplied by each participant.
